 FAQ
  1. May I use the images in this site in my own projects?
    Yes you may, but don't add them to other collections or use them to make a profit, and of course, don't get credit for them. A lot of hard work has been put into this site, so please do not add the files and images in this site in other collections. Also, do not redistribute them without prior permission. You can use them for personal and non-profit sites.

  2. Are all the images in this site free?
    Yes they are, only the images in the menu sections.

  3. May I use the graphics in this site to make a profit out of them?
    It depends. Some of the graphics on this site were not made by Cool Archive. You might find info files included with some of the files with notes from the author. You need to make sure that they are free to use for profit purposes. Remember that the artists have spent countless hours making some of these resources and their rights as owners have to be respected.

  4. How may I convert the icons that are in GIF format (.gif) to Icon format (.ico)
    Ok, first download the icons you like. Then, download the program Microangelo (you can find it in the utilities section). Use Microangelo Studio to open the icon in GIF format, and then save it as an ICO file.

  5. How can I use the icons in my computer? (PC)
    Unfortunately you can only change the icon of a shortcut (shortcuts have a little arrow on the bottom left side of the icon). The way you do it is right-click on the shortcut and choose Properties. Then, you'll see two tabs, General and Shorcut, click on Shortcut. Finally, click on Change Icon and then Browse and go find you Icon files! (.ico).

  6. How can I use the icons in my computer? (Mac)
    First, copy the image you want to use as your icon. Second, open the 'Get Info' window of the icon you wish to replace. Highlight the icon and go to File/Get Info, or highlight it and type Commad-I. Third, click once on the icon image in the 'Get Info' window. Fourth, go to Edit/Paste or type Comand-V to paste the new icon and replace the old one. Finally, close the 'Get Info' window and you're done. Note: You can copy any icon you wish by opening the 'Get Info' window as explained above, selecting the icon and using Edit/Copy or typing Command-C. Also, any image or icon on the net can be copied by clicking and holding on the image or by holding the option key down and clicking. A pop-up menu will appear, which has several functions, one of them being "Copy this Image."

  7. How may I add my favorite link or utility to the links or utilities sections?
    Just contact us with 'Name of the link/utility', 'Brief description', 'URL were I can locate it'.

  8. How may I save the images to my computer?
    If you are using a PC, right-click on the image and choose 'Save Image As...'. And if you are using a Mac hold the mouse button on the image and choose 'Save Image'.

  9. How can I install the fonts in my computer? (PC)
    As a reminder, the fonts work on PCs and MACs. After downloading the zip file(s) use a zip utility such as winzip (you can find it in the utilities section) to unzip the file(s). Then, click on the 'Start', then 'Settings', then 'Control Panel' and double click on 'Fonts'. Now, choose 'File' and 'Install New Font'. Finally, remember where you unzipped the font(s) and go to that directory. Select the font(s) and click 'OK'. Alternatively, you can also just drag the font files onto the fonts folder above.

  10. How can I install the fonts in my computer? (Mac)
    Note: New Mac systems, including Mac OSX, accept every font format available, without conversion, including PC fonts. So the instructions below may not apply to you if you have a newer Mac version. Also, if you have an older Mac system, you won't be able to print after converting the font.
    You need to download the TT-Converter (you can get it at the utilities section) Then download the PC fonts you wish to use. Note that most fonts are in ".zip" compressed format when you download them. They will need to be decompressed before conversion, using either ZipIt 1.3.8 or Stuffit. After you have them decompressed, open the PC font(s) in the converter and change them to Mac fonts. Once done, install them in your Mac's system by doing the following:
    First, double-click the startup disk to open it (the startup disk icon is usually in the top-right corner of the desktop.) If your system has more than one disk, open the disk that contains the active System Folder. This is called the Startup Disk. Second, drag the font you want to install to your closed 'System Folder' icon (not to an open 'System Folder' window). You will most likely get a message box that asks if you want to put the font in the 'Fonts' Folder, just click okay. Then you will get a message that says this font will not be available to currently running applications until they have quit. Finally, click okay and you're done. This will place the font in the 'Fonts' folder where it belongs.

  11. How can I display the images on my page?
    Let's say the image you download is 'coolarchive.gif'. You put the following code in your HTML page to display the image:
    <IMG SRC="coolarchive.gif" WIDTH="100" HEIGHT="50" ALT="Cool Archive">
    Remember to put the correct image values for 'WIDTH' and 'HEIGHT'. 'ALT' is an alternative phrase that will show up if the image doesn't load up.

  12. How can I type something with one of the fonts on my web page?
    The HTML code to type anything on a web page is:
    <FONT SIZE="2">XxxxxX</FONT>
    Where '2' is the size of the font and 'XxxxxX' is the text you want displayed. Now, let's say you want to type something with the font 'Arial', just change the previous code to this:
    <FONT SIZE="2" FACE="Arial">XxxxxX</FONT>
    Where 'Arial' in FACE="" is the font you want to use. So, to use the font 'Acidic' you type:
    <FONT SIZE="2" FACE="Acidic">XxxxxX</FONT>
    Just remember that the user visiting your site must have the font installed on their computer, otherwise they'll see your text written with the default font.

  13. How can I implement the sounds into my site?
    Here is the code to implement a sound wav file (.WAV) or midi file (.MID):

    <embed src="XxxxxX" width=200 height=55 autostart=true loop=true>
    <noembed>
    <bgsound src="XxxxxX" loop=infinite>
    </noembed>

    Replace the 'XxxxxX' with the sound file's name (example: coolarchive.wav).
